Alexey Pankratov was born on February 1, 1982 in Nizhny Tagil, Russia. A graduate of Ekaterinburg's Ural State Conservatory, Alexey held a leading position in the chamber orchestra "The Soloists of Russia" for 7 years. Since moving to Canada in 2009, he has worked as a freelancer with such music organizations as the Canadian Opera Company Orchestra, the Toronto Symphony Orchestra, and Tapestry Opera, among others. Alexey made his film debut in 2016 as a Soviet violinist in Guillermo del Toro's movie "The Shape of Water". He has since appeared in a number of productions as a background and special skills performer, including Reign, Good Witch, Taken (TV series), Conviction, Designated Survivor, Anne (TV series), and Man Seeking Woman. Based in Toronto, Canada, Alexey is pursuing studies in Embodied English at the Toronto Laboratory Theatre under the direction of Art Babayants.
