Thi Be Nguyen is Vietnamese born in Vientiane, Laos. Her origins are from Ha Tinh - Vietnam and her grandparents was established in Laos during the Indochinese Era. After the Vietnam war, she fled with her family by land and boat to arrive in Thailand refugee camps to finally immigrate to Canada in 1980. Today, she has multiple professional backgrounds, working in Marketing and Communications at National Bank of Canada. She is the President-Founder of UniAction, an NGO, that mobilizes and helps families in needs throughout the world since 2014. She is also the Founder and Executive producer of UniAction Films, based in Montreal, Canada, who produces, promotes and distributes films and documentaries related to social issues. In 2016, she released the first Canadian documentary on Vietnamese Boat people refugees who immigrated to Canada, titled A Moonless Night: Boat people, 40 years later, in which she also conducts the interviews. The documentary has played in a few theaters and at Télé Québec, as well as on Air Canada flights. It is available for purchase online.
