Steve Circeo

Steve Circeo is a versatile technician, serving as cinematographer, sound recordist, and editor, for all the films created by the production company he created with his filmmaking partner, Jason C. Trevino, Hot Like The Desert Productions. Steve was born in Massachusetts. His father was an air traffic controller in the the US Air Force, and the family lived in New York, England, and Germany, as well as Massachusetts. Steve graduated from Kaiserslautern American High School in Kaiserslautern, Germany. After a two-year attempt at attending college, Steve worked for McKee Baking Company in Collegedale, Tennessee, making Little Debbie snack cakes for a couple years, before he eventually went into the US Air Force as a Russian Linguist. He served in Augsburg, Germany, and then Albuquerque, New Mexico, where he was a training manager for the rest of his Air Force career. While he served in the Air Force, Steve earned a BA in Sociology/Criminal Justice and a dual MA in Management and Human Resources Development. Steve's entry into the world of filmmaking was in 2006, when he bought a small video camera to capture live music performances for the now-defunct Texas Music Times at small venues in San Antonio, Texas, where he now lived. He moved from those live music videos to scripted music videos for local bands. At some point Steve met Jason C. Trevino, and they knew each other for a few years before they realized that they were both filmmakers who'd never made a film. When the opportunity arose in 2015 for them to run a summer film camp for kids, they jumped at it, creating a short film with a group of children between the ages of 6 and 14. That same summer they joined the 48 Hour Film Project in San Antonio and created the movie Judge, which is remarkable mostly because it is a 7-minute film done in a single take. Steve continues to make films with Jason in San Antonio, Texas. He is married to Kim, and is the brother of actor Ken Circeo and the uncle of actress Alyson Circeo.
