Mohammad Ali Hashmi is an actor and writer known for Stray Dogs Come Out at Night (2020), Dia (2018) and 1978 (2020). Mohammad grew up near the Karachi Arts Council, where he fell in love with theatre. Following his dreams, he took a year off after high school and made his mark as an actor in a breakout performance as "Doody" in "Grease: The Musical" (2016). He was scouted by a well known casting director, and subsequently appeared in numerous television productions. He returned to theatre to star in "39 Steps" (2018). During the press tour, he was offered to host a celebrity radio talk show called "Loose Cannons" (2018-2019) on CityFM89. His debut film "Stray Dogs Come Out At Night" holds the honor of being the first Pakistani film to premiere at both BFI: London Film Festival and Clermont-Ferrand international film festival (2020). Recent films include "Bhai" (Brother) which is set to release in 2021. As a writer, Mohammad holds a co-writing credit on Dia (2018). He also developed the initial story idea of Bhai (2021), and is a contributing writer on Hamza Bangash's feature film "Mariam" that is set for a 2022 release.
