Born on 25 August 1992 in Zürich, Switzerland, Laura Benz is a professional ice hockey defender. Benz's career took off in 2008, when she made three appearances for the Switzerland women's national under-18 ice hockey team, at two levels of the IIHF World Women's U18 Championships. In 2009 Benz also represented Switzerland at one IIHF Women's World Championship. The following year, 2010 she was selected for the Switzerland national women's ice hockey team. Benz played in all five games, managing to score a goal. Switzerland left Vancouver without a medal. But 4 years later, at the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi, Russia, Laura Benz was a member of the Swiss Olympic team that nailed the bronze medal. Benz shared this joy with her sister and teammate Sara Benz.
