Jacques Courtois was born on 5 April 1928 in Calais, Pas-de-Calais, France. He began as an illusionist before becoming a ventriloquist. It is probably the most famous French ventriloquist, thanks to his regular participation in the television in the programs of Jean Nohain in the 60s. Among the characters he created, the most famous and that of Omer. Jacques Courtois distinguished himself by smoking the pipe during his number. In the seventies, he appeared on television in the programs of Guy Lux. At the end of the seventies, he bade farewell to television, and put an end to his career to go and live such Roninson Crusoe on an island of the Indian Ocean that he had bought, feeding on fruits and fish . He has since sold his island to Club Med and settled in Thailand where he owns a cabaret. In 2014, he auctioned off his puppets and accessories to raise money for the education of the little girl he adopted.
