Matthew Hoobin is a filmmaker, actor, and editor based in the St. Petersburg/Clearwater area of Florida. He is known for writing and acting in the short film Dadcula (2016); acting in the short films Brodies (2017) and Save the Date (2019); assistant directing the short film Papers (2020); and producing and editing the short documentaries Monster Vision: A History and Analysis of Horror Cinema (2016) and To Be Continued (2017). He works as a video editor and production assistant for the Pinellas Education Foundation. With Julian Merrill and Keyont'e Howard, Hoobin created a segment about animator Jake Sloan for the WEDU/PBS television program WEDU Arts Plus (2013). Hoobin and Merrill have collaborated on a number of works available on Merrill's YouTube channel 6Weeks; these include not only "Save the Date" and "Papers", but also the skits "Coronavirus is Boring" (2020), in which they both acted, and "Crazy New Year's Resolutions" (2021), for which Hoobin served as videographer. Hoobin spent much of 2021 developing and editing "Horror Miasma", a music video chronicling the history of horror movies; set to the instrumental "Miasma" by the Swedish band Ghost, the video includes clips from almost 300 different films. It was uploaded to YouTube on October 31, 2021. The following year, Hoobin served as a grip and production assistant, and appeared in a very minor role, in the short film Tapioca.
