Diana Newton

Born in 1957 to a conservative Southern religious family (her father Robert Lee Newton was a Baptist minister) Diana Newton studied therapy at North Carolina State University in Raleigh and went on to do leadership consulting.Her filmmaking career so far has been in the genre of documentary, including one personal feature length work on how her family handled the transition of her brother Christopher, with whom she was especially close, into a woman now named Christine and married to another woman. Newton has also been involved in the board of directors who have kept open and have been programming the Chelsea three screen art house movie complex in Chapel Hill.
