JoAnn F. Peterson grew up in Fort Ashby, WV. She graduated from Fort Ashby High School, West Virginia University (B.S. in Plant Sciences) and Frostburg State University (M.B.A.) In addition to film acting, JoAnn has performed in many theatrical productions. She does living history, first person portrayals, which she calls "Amazing Women of History". JoAnn researches and does historically accurate portrayals of Jenny Lind, Margaret "The Unsinkable Molly" Brown, Mary (Todd) Lincoln, Shirley Temple Black, and Nellie Bly. Professional regional theater credits include Mother Abbess in "The Sound of Music", Mrs. Einsford-Hill in "My Fair Lady", Shandel in "Fiddler on the Roof", Mrs. Darling in "Peter Pan" and others (West Virginia Public Theatre); and Doris MacAfee in "Bye, Bye Birdie" (Cumberland Theatre).
