Dan Schmidt was born in the Chicago suburbs to John and Sherry Schmidt, the oldest of three. Dan was a huge fan of the Fantasy/Sci-Fi genre in all forms of media ever since he saw E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial for the first time at age four. His greatest passion within this realm of fiction was for superheroes which began with his first Batman action figure and just grew from there. Eventually after hours of watching Batman: The Animated Series, exposure to the Internet, the premiere of Smallville on The WB and seeing the first Spider-Man on the big screen, Dan decided to become a comic book/screenwriter. Dan has graduated from Columbia College Chicago in 2010 with a degree in Film/TV Screenwriting and used his podcast network, Across The Airwaves, along with the Graphic Novel he is writing, as stepping stones towards a job in the entertainment industry. Dan passed away in July of 2016, but not before his directorial debut, a documentary on Camp Horizon's 25 year history, which he had attended for years.
