Stephy Tao

Yaqi Tao, was born in 1989. She studies geography and environment management in Canada and China, then went to Beijing Film Academy and CalArts for filmmaking. She was one of the Mezcal Jury in 2018 Guadalajara International Film Festival in Mexico, now interning at Phoenix Pictures and working part time as a programmer in LA Chinese Film Festival. She is drawn to themes of human relationships, romance, death, loss, and longing. Tao tells stories from a female perspective, and starts to find her style of storytelling, embodies human emotions into objects, long takes of empty shots. She is a spiritual artist, believes in film as the ideal way for awakening and healing people.
