Born to a traditional Punjabi Indian family, Nasiv bucks tradition and boldly challenges cultural and societal expectations to follow her dreams-whether it is to play ice hockey on a team of all boys or move away from home to pursue an unconventional career in the arts. Deeply inspired by her grandparents' journey to Canada, Nasiv honors their legacy and pursuit of the Canadian dream with her relentless work ethic and commitment to the development of her artistry. This versatile 19-year-old dancer, actor and singer is making a name for herself with her bold style and distinctive artistic voice. Her recent credits include Disney's Descendants 2, the Netflix Original Series A Series of Unfortunate Events, Disney's Freaky Friday and Macklemore and Ryan Lewis' music video for Dance Off. Nasiv performed in the opening ceremony for the 2010 Winter Paralympics and in stage shows Timber and Boogie Fever as part of Vancouver's Pacific National Exhibition. Nasiv trains extensively in classical and contemporary ballet with Vancouver BC's Arts Umbrella Dance Company. In 2018, she danced with Ballet BC as a cover in the production of "Romeo and Juliet" choreographed by Medhi Walerski and in 2017 she had the honor of working with Crystal Pite on "Flight Pattern" for the Paris Opera Ballet. With an unwavering desire to be a performer who can do it all, Nasiv continues to hone her skills in other dance genres as well. Her training in Hip Hop, Jazz, Tap and Musical Theatre has taken her throughout Europe, North America and the Middle East to work with the dance industry's most accomplished master-teachers and renowned choreographers. Of particular interest is Nasiv's accomplishment in Gaga movement vocabulary, attained from work with former members of the Batsheva Company at Arts Umbrella and attending their Summer Intensive in Tel Aviv, Israel. To compliment her strong dance background, Nasiv has studied acting, improvisation and camera skills at Bryant and Tuck Acting Studios in Vancouver. She is fluent in French, Punjabi and English, and has a knack for picking up accents making Nasiv a multifaceted actor for stage, film, and television productions. Nasiv is also a talented vocalist having been a former member of the BC Girls' Choir for 2 years. She continues to train her voice with private lessons.
