Robert Dorgebray

Champion road race cyclist Robert Dorgebray was born on October 16, 1915 in France. Although Dorgebray placed fourth in the mass sprint in the men's individual road race at the 1936 Olympics held in Berlin, Germany, he nonetheless still won a gold medal in the men's road race team event. Robert went on to finish third in the 1939 French amateur championships and turned professional in 1942. Moreover, Dorgebray won the semi-classic Paris-Camembert in 1947 and competed in three Tour de France races, but never made it to Paris. In addition, Robert was also active in cyclo-cross and came in second at the 1943 French championships. Dorgebray died at age 89 on September 29, 2005 in Paris, France.
