Alex continued to live in Austin throughout her high school years, and on graduating, she set off for college at the University of Kansas, to major in journalism with a business minor. Throughout her time at college, Alex continued with her interest in theatre and added acting, stage movement and an introduction to Stanislavsky to her curriculum. Alex graduated from with a Bachelor of Science / Minor in Business, and plans to move to Chicago. However, during her downtime that summer, when visiting her grandparents in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, she was approached by a casting director, to work as an actress on the set of the Breck Eisner directed blockbuster movie, The Last Witch Hunter, starring Vin Diesel. This was her first time on any movie set, and she instantly fell in love with the entertainment industry. It was then that she decided to change career direction and pursue opportunities in the entertainment capital of Hollywood. On making the permanent move to Hollywood, Alex hit the ground running. She began freelance writing for a well-known Los Angeles media outlet, which enabled her to attend various high profiles, and star-studded, award shows and events. After a year, Alex decided to focus on her acting training taking a multitude of improv workshops, commercial acting classes. Since living in Los Angeles, Alex can be seen in television commercials, and indie films including 'Match Makers', a comedy directed by John Hayden and 'A Pity', a drama directed by Kevin and Alec Barth which Alex also produced. When not working on a new scene, filming or traveling, Alex lends her time and talents to non-profit organizations including the Mike & Jessica McCarthy Golf Invitational (Est. 2010), a golf tournament benefitting the American Family Children's Hospital in Madison, Wisconsin. She also volunteers at CoachArt in Los Angeles, helping children that have been impacted by childhood chronic illness, and puts on an annual event in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, that benefits the American Heart Association in order to raise awareness to heart disease and stroke survivors. In addition to acting, Alex loves to travel and explore new realms. She is happiest when navigating new cities, the outdoors and putting time into her hobbies which include, reading and writing, horseback riding, hiking, antiquing, interior designing creative spaces, and with her pets.
