Susanne Stern is an actress and theatre director from Berlin. Born in Düsseldorf, she grew up in Mülheim an der Ruhr in Western Germany. She started at Drama School in Cologne and continued her acting training with actorfactory Berlin / Johannes Hitzblech and several workshops with renowned British acting coach Mel Churcher. Her theatre work has been diverse, from Shakespeare (Olivia in "Twelfth Night") to performance, from Berlin's off theatre to working with the prison theatre company aufBruch several times, most notably as Maria Stuart in "Maria and Elisabeth" (after Friedrich Schiller's "Maria Stuart") in an Open Air production at the Berlin Wall Memorial Site. She also trained as theatre director with the Argentinian director Marcelo Díaz and wrote, directed and produced "Die vielleicht Geeigneten" in 2015. The production is based on Peter Hoeg's novel "Borderliners". It premiered in Berlin and was subsequently performed at Theater Spielraum Vienna in 2016 and at Performing Arts Festival Berlin 2017. She has worked in short films, commercials, infomercials and a video installation by Aernout Mik for House of World Cultures Berlin. In 2017 she starred in the TV Series "Acht Tage", (dir. Stefan Ruzowitzky, Michael Krummenacher) which will air on Sky Germany in 2018.
