Derek Spaldo is an actor, musician, and playwright/director, based in Chicago. He is represented by Stewart Talent Chicago. He earned his MFA in Acting from The Theatre School at DePaul University. Born in Rutherford, NJ, Derek lived in New York City after attending Eugene Lang College, The New School for Liberal Arts. Working in the downtown theatre scene as an actor, sound designer, stage manager/jack-of-all-trades, he had the pleasure of working with various artists such as Christina Masciotti, The Gallery Players, Hamlet Isn't Dead, Paul Lazar, MaineStage Shakespeare, Richard Maxwell/New York City Players, and Zishan Ugurlu, at spaces such as Abrons Arts Center, The Chocolate Factory, The Bushwick Starr, Dixon Place, La MaMa, as well as international tours to France and Croatia. With a vested interest in developing new work, his plays Playground, PITCH, Scene from a Room, and The Killers of Comedy have run to great acclaim at spaces in New York such as The Brick, Dixon Place, and La MaMa.
