Gregorio Méndez

Gregorio Méndez was born in Burgos, Castile, Spain (1960). He is a documentary director and visual artist, known for his works in video art and the documentary "Antonio José. Pavana triste" (2018), about the life and the music of the Spanish composer. During the late seventies he starts painting, technique he complements with printing, drawing, performances, happenings and installations. That is what his shows and performances hinge on until the first decade of the 2000's. He participates in the creation of situationist networks during the 1990s. At the turn of the millennium he begins to work with video, technology, his artwork is currently based on. He has shown his pieces in galleries and art spaces in Spain and other European countries. His works are represented in public and private collections, such as Colección "La Caixa", in the video art catalog H.A.M.A.C.A./Museo Reina Sofía or Fundación Caja de Burgos. He has also realized stage designs for professional and amateur theaters, as well as illustrations and poster designs.
