At the age of five, Naledi proclaimed to her parents that she intended to become an actor...as well as a Flamenco dancer, scientist, martial artist, and healer. They assumed this was a passing whim. Already an avid reader, Naledi progressed to chapter books, then screenplays and "table reads." After a full year of insisting on her thespian aspirations, her parents relented. She quickly found representation and started booking gigs, while fully enjoying the ride! In her most exciting role to date, Naledi has a pivotal role in the beloved Netflix Original Series, "Sweet Tooth," now in its third season. The post-apocalyptic fairytale, based on Jeff Lemire's beloved DC Comic, follows the perilous journey of a lovable boy 'Gus' who is half-human and half-deer, searching for a new beginning, along with other hybrids. Naledi's character, 'Wendy' (AKA 'Pigtail') is a hybrid girl/piglet first introduced in a recurring role in Season One. Naledi has since become a series regular, and in the upcoming Season Three, 'Gus, ' 'Wendy' and friends attempt to reach Alaska to find Gus's mom. "Sweet Tooth" is from executive producers Susan Downey and Robert Downey Jr. The show launched as one of Netflix's Top 10 Most Watched English language original series in 2021 and has been nominated for 20 Children's and Family Emmy awards and has won 4. Naledi's previous television credits include a recurring role as 'Luna,' the granddaughter of Edie Falco's character in the CBS TV crime drama series "Tommy," and as 'Shelby,' a patient with end-stage leukemia opposite Hugh Grant in the HBO Original limited series "The Undoing," from David E. Kelley. Naledi, now 13, was exposed to the performing arts as a very young child by her parents who included her in many of their passions and career pursuits: her father, Malcolm, is an actor, stuntman and independent filmmaker, and her mother, Micole, is a former dancer. Naledi would run lines with her dad as he prepared for auditions and attended dance and fitness classes with her mom, all of which inspired her to pursue her own career in show business. Naledi attended Alvin Ailey's Junior Division Dance Program, during which time she performed at a Lincoln Center benefit gala. She also studied martial arts at Unlimited Martial Arts Brooklyn up until the onset of the pandemic in 2020, right around the time that she landed her role in "Sweet Tooth," which filmed in New Zealand. Ms. Murray is just as excited to begin high school in New York in September 2024. When not on set or in class, Naledi enjoys fantasy novels, fashion and makeup, crochet, dogs, game night, and of course, TikTok! She got her coveted roller skates for her last birthday and has set her sights on becoming a roller disco diva! Naledi's name means "Shining Star," which she most certainly is!
