Steven Swancoat is a board-certified Ob/Gyn, painter, philanthropist and first-time filmmaker living in New York City. In 2010, Swancoat moved to New York City as a medical student where his father encouraged him to "give art a try". Never before did he imagine how his life would change. In just 6 years as a self-taught painter, Swancoat has had over a 20 solo, group and international exhibitions, created over 500 works of art, and has raised over $24,000 for various charities through his artwork. All while completing a four-year Ob/Gyn residency program at Wyckoff Heights Medical Center in Brooklyn, NY. Notably, Swancoat co-hosted a large art show & fundraiser with fellow artist Tripp Derrick Barnes at Susan Sarandon's Ping Pong Club SPiN. In 2017, Swancoat wrote, directed, produced and edited his first short film called "The Singer". The film thus far has won 15 awards, including six for best first-time filmmaker. As of March 2018, he is in preproduction for his debut feature, a horror/thriller set in up north Michigan. Filming is set to shoot in May 2019. Despite his creative endeavors, Swancoat is still a practicing Ob/Gyn physician bringing in new life into the world every month.
