Born Patricia Dean in Montclair, New Jersey, Patrice Escoto graduated from East Orange High School and studied Film and TV at Indiana State University. She holds a Master's Degree in Education. She is the author of two books, one on nutrition and breast cancer, the other, a book of poems chronicling the Middle Passage. Investigating the psychological motives behind a person's actions is the catalyst for her writings. Translating these motives into intense thrillers led her to write The Bronze Queen, a feature chosen as both a finalist in the 2020 Diverse Voices Spring Competition and a Semifinalist in The Writer's Lab 2021 competition. Her latest script, Utopia, 2054 was chosen as a semi-finalist in both the 2021 Big Apple Screenplay Competition and the Atlanta Screenplay Competition. Patrice focuses her storytelling on strong female protagonists and their search for social, economic and environmental justice.
