Sophie Wang

Writer-director Sophie Wang was born in China and immigrated to Canada when she was a teenager. Her love and passion for cinema developed at a young age when she became exposed to French films such as The Big Blue and Amélie. She found her way to filmmaking when she took part in a youth filmmaking workshop at the ReelAsian Film Festival in Toronto in 2016 and discovered that film is her true calling. She has written and directed 4 short films and garnered selections and awards from film festivals all over the world. Her latest short film Signal (2020) was selected by 10 film festivals and screened in 4 different countries. She resides in San Francisco, California.
