Maurício Pacheco is a music producer and performing artist based in Rio de Janeiro, Brasil, where he has been active in the music market for over 20 years. During this period, Mauricio produced and worked alongside a number of very popular artists in Brazil, like the young r&b singer Malía, Gabriel O Pensador (the first rapper to sell more than 1 million copies in the country) and Latin Grammy winner Vanessa da Mata, widely known for her collaboration with Ben Harper. Mauricio produced Vanessa's live DVD Caixinha de Música(2017) and since 2015 is her musical director an guitarist. Since 2002 Maurício has traveled to Africa doing music research an production. He lived for a period in Angola, where he produced several albums for local superstars like Paulo Flores, and released his critically acclaimed remix work Comfusões in 2009. As a curator in Brazil, Mauricio is responsible for important events promoting cultural exchanges between Brazil and the African continent. He curated the Back2Black festival in Rio for 3 years(2011 to 2013), introducing Angolan kuduro artists to the Brazilian audience, as well as African heavyweights like Youssou N'Dour and Hugh Masekela. Maurício has been working on soundtracks to several clients in Brazil, from Petrobrás to Shell, and co-signed with Lucas Santtana the soundtrack of the docuseries Além-Mar, directed by Belisário França and Hermano Vianna, and narrated by the legendary Maria Bethânia. Além-Mar was awarded in 2001 as best documentary by the IDA (International Documentary Association) from Los Angeles/USA. He worked in soundtracks with cinema legends from Brazil like Cacá Diegues and for 9 years also presented his own TV show called Segue o Som, with interviews, musical events coverage and rare footage of Brazilian music history. Segue o Som aired at TV Brazil from 2009 to 2018. His original soundtrack for the documental series Sankofa(presented on Netflix in 2020) has been praised by the critics and media in Brazil.
