Known for Booze. Broads and Blackjack (2018) (Writer/Producer) Carl was born in Syracuse, NY. and grew up in Brewerton, NY. Carl graduated from P.V. Moore High School, Central Square, NY, in 1973. Upon graduation, he studied radio and television at Onondaga Community College. Carl also earned a bachelor's degree in communications from Pacific Western University, and studied law at Southern California University for Professional Studies. He also was a student of Public Administration at Bakersfield College. Carl was employed at several radio stations in New York State, including: WSEN AM/FM, (Baldwinsville), WTLB (Utica) and WNDR (Syracuse.) In 1979 Carl moved to Salinas, California to become news director at radio station KDON. In 1980, he was appointed news director at KMEN radio, San Bernardino. In 1981 Carl became a news reporter and morning news anchor at KERO-TV, Bakersfield. He then went to KGET-TV as news assignment editor. In 1982 Carl was hired by the County of Kern as a 911 operator. First working at the Sheriff's Department and then at the Kern County Fire Department as a supervisor. In 2001 Carl joined the Arvin Police Department. In 2003 Carl was hired by the City of Santa Monica, and retired from the Santa Monica Police Department in 2015. Upon retirement Carl became an author and wrote two books.
