Monica Cookes who was born Monica Wilson came into this world on September 4, 1990 in Philadelphia, PA to her late mother Monique "Monica" Wilson. Monica was placed into foster care at 11 days old to the late Robert and Estelle Cookes . At age 7, she was then adopted, taking on the name of Monica Wilson Cookes. Monica attended Jules E. Mastbaum High School for A.V.T.S where she excelled in her creative writing and drama classes. She also took up the trade of Graphic Design and later obtained her Associates Degree in said field from Antonelli Institute for Art and Photography in 2011. She was the only one from her immediate adopted family to obtain a college degree. A year later, her adopted mother passed in 2012 a few months shy of Monica's was only 22. After the passing of her mother, Monica had her first child at 23. After 3 years of searching for her purpose in life, Monica went back to her roots in the arts in 2017 and began acting. Her first on-screen experience was as an escort in Lique Productions film "Journey of 3 Women". Shortly after, she began to pick up background talent in films such as "F.O.N" which was produced by Addyville Productions, "Fine Wine" produced by Boathouse Pictures and several other films, shorts and series. Aside from acting, Monica also works behind the scenes in various different roles one being a Stage Manager for Come and See Productions which is a theater ministry company based in Philadelphia. Monica has also had the pleasure of working along side Hansoul for the feature film "Jesus Saves!". There she gained experience in wardrobe, location scouting, and casting calls. When she is not acting, Monica enjoys her free time, being a parent and helping out in the community when and where she can. Monica is a voice of positivity and she loves to reflect that on her social media and to others that she cross paths with. Monica also enjoys writing and is working on several scripts and TV series with her team as they start to develop a production company of their own. She believes "in order to change your altitude, you must first change your attitude". Her biggest role thus far was In 2018, when she landed the role of Cat Covington in the series "The Covington Witches" based off of the novel which is written and directed by Roz Carter which is streaming on Amazon Prime video.
