David Whiteley

David Whiteley is an actor and musician who has performed across the USA and Canada. A proud member of ACTRA and CAEA, Whiteley also writes, directs and produces live theatre as the Artistic Director of Plosive Productions, a resident company at Ottawa's The Gladstone Theatre. Whiteley is well known for combining acting and musician roles together, taking on roles of musicians playing their instruments on screen or live on stage. In the National Theatre Centre's production of Anne & Gilbert: The Musical he portrayed Anne's violin-playing would-be suitor Moody Spurgeon Macpherson, and he played cello, viola and French horn on stage to portray Salieri in Mozart and Salieri in Vancouver. Fluent in French as well as English, Whiteley performs regularly in both languages, including alternating English and French performances of Claude Montigny's Mæstro and performing the title role in La Farce de Maître Pathelin in the original French. Based out of Ottawa, Canada, Whiteley works locally in Montreal and Toronto, and has toured to various states and provinces for a number of productions and with world music band, Troïka. He trained in acting at Ryerson Theatre School before receiving a BA in drama and music from the University of Guelph and an MA in dramatic arts from the Université du Québec À Montreal. Whiteley was born and grew up in Guelph, Ontario but spent many summers in Ephraim, Wisconsin where his family used to own a small cherry orchard.
