5 unforgettable moments of Matthew Perry on "Friends"

"Friends" wouldn't have been the show it was without Matthew Perry. The actor, who passed away last Saturday, made his Chandler — and his unmistakable sarcasm — the heart of the sitcom's comedy, eliciting laughter and smiles from many generations of fans.

With enviable comedic timing, Perry not only left an imprint on the phenomenon that was "Friends", but in TV history. Below, we revisit 5 of his most unforgettable moments from the show. Check them out and watch.

TRAPPED IN AN ATM VESTIBULE WITH JILL GOODACRE

In the very first year of the show, in "The One with the Blackout", Chandler finds himself trapped in an ATM vestibule with supermodel Jill Goodacre during a New York blackout. For much of the episode, we hear the character's thoughts, as he grapples with his own awkwardness in the situation. It's hilarious!

"FLIRTING" WITH PHOEBE

In "The One Where Everybody Finds Out" from the fifth season, Phoebe (Lisa Kudrow) tries to "seduce" Chandler, hoping to get him to admit his then-secret romance with Monica (Courteney Cox). Chandler plays along, trying to keep the secret, but his discomfort is obvious (and very funny). The sequence culminates in one of the most adorable moments of the character, where he puts an end to the charade and confesses his love for Monica.

THE FIGHT OVER THE CHAIR

In the third season, in "The One Where No One's Ready", Chandler gets annoyed seeing Joey (Matt LeBlanc) in his chair, trying every possible way to get him out — even attempting to sit on him. The situation escalates hilariously, leading up to the memorable moment when Joey puts on all of Chandler's clothes.

THE CHEESECAKE ON THE FLOOR

Who hasn't been tempted by a sweet treat, right? In "The One With All The Cheesecakes", from the seventh season, Chandler and Rachel (Jennifer Aniston) can't resist the delicious cheesecakes that were actually meant for a neighbor. They end up squabbling over the dessert and, after sharing it, Rachel's piece ends up on the apartment hallway floor. Chandler teases her and refuses to share his piece, only for it to be dropped too. In the end, they both try to eat the cheesecake straight off the floor, in one of the most hilarious "Friends" scenes.

CHANDLER GETS STRIPPED

In the second year of the show, in "The One After the Superbowl: Part 2", Chandler gets locked in a restaurant bathroom wearing only underwear after his date with Susie (Julia Roberts) goes wrong. She, in fact, was seeking revenge for him lifting her skirt in school and stole his clothes after making him wear underwear. Chandler then tries to ask Joey and Ross (David Schwimmer) for help, who find the situation amusing.

BONUS: THE LAST JOKE OF "FRIENDS"

The last joke (and also the last line) of "Friends" comes from Chandler. In the series finale, as the six friends say goodbye to Monica's apartment, Rachel suggests the group grab a coffee, to which Chandler quips, "Sure! Where?". A nod, of course, to the iconic Central Perk.
