Samar El -Zein is the founder and artistic director of The Kinetic Theater. She is an actress, a drama teacher, and a peace activist. She studied with The French master Jacques Le Coq, and earned her Diploma in Physical Theater in Paris, Samar has worked as an actress on stage and on screen in the Middle East, France, and in the United States. One of her most renowned performances in a film includes "Kyrie Eleison," which won the Best Short Film category at the Boston and New York Film Festivals and Australia. She has also performed as James Joyce's "Mary Bloom" at Symphony Space Theater in New York City. In the early 1980s she hosted the television series "Children's playground" a joint British -Lebanese production which was broadcast throughout the Arabic-speaking world. Recently this summer she played the role Mama in the short film Barzakh And the role Nahla in short film Habibti. Her last short film "Tallahassee" she played the role of Souad .She played Salmas mom in a play Superman and Serena at the Hudson Guild Theater. She recently played the role of Karen in a virtual play "Recluse " and Helen in a virtual play "Forger "with Steve Sherman . Also she played the role of "Farida" in the play "Imigrant Woman". Samar likes to use her work as the medium in which she spreads messages of peace, equality and human rights.
