Jeremy Gillett was born in Cedar Falls, IA, and raised in Chicago and Lexington, KY. He attended the University of Kentucky where he graduated with a B.A., and continued his education at Arizona State University, where he earned an M.F.A. in Theater & Film Performance. Gillett is comfortable on both film and stage. He was cast in featured and supporting roles in the following independent films: Monogamy & Me (2018), Raptors (2018), Justice Served (2016), Car Dogs (2015) and Hitting the Cycle (2012). He has performed his one man show, Black and 25 in America, in venues across the country, including at The Atwater Village Theatre in March 2018. He authored the critically-acclaimed show which explores issues of race, class, gender and identity. Through the life stories of his characters - Big Man, Joshua Thomas Northington III, Darron, and Marcy - Gillett gives his audience insight on what it is like to be a young, black adult. Using a series of vignettes, the play examines how each character feels invisible and without voice. In 2018, Gillett was an Artist in Residence for The Kennedy Center American College Theater Festival, Region 4, where he performed his one man show and led acting and writing workshops. Gillett was chosen as The Broadway League and ATPAM First National Diversity Intern for the musicals "Memphis" and "Motown."
