Lorenzo Yates was born in Del Rio, Texas on June 2, 1948 to Lawrence Eugene and Angelina Yates. Lawrence Eugene was a career military man and Angelina a store clerk. Angelina later went on to become involved in California politics and was instrumental in helping to create legislation benefiting senior and handicap citizens. Lorenzo got his first taste of being onstage at age six and loved it. Between the ages of 10 and 12 he was cast in lead roles in plays at the church he attended and continued his drama studies in high school. At age 16 he decided to focus on live music performance and stepped away from acting. The music continued for many years culminating with his band "Larry Yates and the Blues Monsters" (1992-2002). In 1984 Lorenzo worked as a driver on his first film "Birdy". It would be a few years before he would work on "Sister Act". In 2001, Lorenzo moved to Los Angeles to further his music career. He ended up working on films and having his music take a back seat. While in L A he appeared in "Pit Fighter", "No Rules" and "Crazylove" In 2003/2004 he had the opportunity to study with Jeff Conaway (Grease, Taxi). In 2004 Lorenzo moved to the San Francisco Bay Area where he lives today. Since then he has appeared in several films made in the Bay Area, "K.I.S.S." , "Man from Reno" "Pick a Side" (2021). "This Side Up" (2021) "Complexity" and "The Curse is Broken" are in production.
