Zack Cagan was born in Hartford, Connecticut and grew up in Coral Springs, FL where he attended JP Taravella High School. He then went on to study at the Florida State University where he graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in acting. While at FSU he studied under Emmy Award winning casting director, John Papsidera and Tony Award nominee, Michael Hayden.
