Nascido em 9 de janeiro de 1968, Amityville, Long Island, Nova York, filho de Thomas e Kathleen Kelahan, ele tem três irmãos Benjamin, Paul e Joseph Kelahan, uma irmã Clare Kelahan (Mutone). Três filhas, Cristina, Brianne e Kaley Kelahan. É membro ativo do The Screen Actors Guild e da American Federation of Television and Radio Artists.
