A dry, witty, smartypants hipster, Lex has been described as Emo Hermione, brunette Katchoo, and "someone you can talk to forever about nothing." She might sell drugs and dispense wisdom - or does she sell wisdom and dispense drugs? Conservatory trained at Maggie Flanigan Studio, Lex was a mainstay in the NYC indie theater scene, most notably as an original and continued member of the long-running, monthly, late-night soap opera for the stage, It's Getting Tired, Mildred, now in its Sixth Season! She, along with her castmates, was the winner of the 2016 New York Innovative Theater Awards for Best Ensemble for her work in The Golfer. She's currently living in Los Angeles. Her on-camera work can be seen in the films of many independent luminaries - most recently in Linda Yellen's film Fluidity. Collaboration, celebrating everyone's strengths, and amplifying marginalized voices are what drive her artistic pursuits on and off set. At the onset of the pandemic lockdown, Lex began hosting Signal: A Virtual Open Mic to help all of the artists whose jobs were abruptly canceled. Originally occurring daily, as things began to settle it has shaken out to a once-a-week art-sharing hours-long event. Over the 60+ open mics so far, Signal has attracted talent from all over the country, in multiple disciplines, and with varying levels of renown. Lex also draws comics on Instagram, usually based on queerness and mental illness, which have been well-received as funny and helpful - two designations in which she delights. When she's not acting, drawing, or hosting the Open Mic, Lex can be found making stuffed monsters (they're very cute,) organizing around social justice, coaching other actors, and learning to keep plants alive. www.lex-friedman.com
