Montgomery "Monty" Davis is a recent transplant to the amazing city of Atlanta. She was brought here after two years of being on the road by the award winning Serenbe Playhouse to be apart of the acting apprentice company for their 2016-2017 season. Originally from North Carolina she has long wanted to be a knight with flowers in her hair thanks to her obsession with the medieval and saving damsels and lads in distress. She started riding horses and singing before she could walk and talk, and started getting stage fright when she first performed in The Wind and The Willows at The Temple Theatre Company at the age of eight. Somehow this quirky individual decided to make a career out of performing. She started her training with Thomas Edward Dalton, and continued with Tony Pender, and Peggy Taphorn. She also took voice lessons with Elizabeth Labelle and dance with Tori Melby. With their help she fell deeper into the hobbit hole and found herself at The University of North Carolina School of the Arts for their summer acting program. There she made lifelong friends and had her first experience with stage combat. This experience along with the idea of being a pirate for life led her to get her BFA at East Carolina University. There she studied Musical theatre technique, ballet, jazz, tap, piano, guitar, Shakespeare, and Meisner acting technique. She also had the pleasure of understudying Polly in ThreePenny Opera, Swing/ Toni Gillette in Stage Door, a Pinhead in The Elephant Man, and Rootie Mallort in the two woman show Graceland. She also got her first international adventure performing in Mozart's The Magic Flute as 1st Spirit in Bulgaria. Before she graduated she joined the professional cast of The Pennsylvania Renaissance Faire as a Siren, continuing on with them for their Christmas show. She then traveled the country in a little red truck with Missoula Children's Theatre. These combined experiences fueled her love for travel, music, and combat. Between performing and traveling she has been developing her directing and combative skills. As of July 2017 she became certified by the Society of American Fight Directors as an Advanced Actor Combatant with certifications in Single Sword, Sword and Sheild, Broadsword, Rapier and Dagger, Knife, Quarterstaff, Theatrical Firearm safety, and Unarmed Combat . She is a yellow belt in Moo Duk Kwan martial arts under Master Jolly and continuing lessons in Wing Chun with SiFu Francis Fong. She also is training JKD and Presas Arnis Kali Escrima. All in hopes of one day becoming a certified teacher and fight director with the SAFD and a stunt woman. In her free time she likes to paint and practice yoga/ Pure Barre. She also loves to be heavily involved in the rock music scene, sneaking away to dive bars whenever the opportunity presents itself. She loves The Killers, trying new things, and adventuring. She wants to volunteer at an Otter Sanctuary and swim with Sea Turtles. She is addicted to nature and Pinterest. And actively struggles with wanting to be a combination of Jeremy Jordan, Louise from Bob's Burgers, an elf, a political activist, Blake Lively, and Viking Warrior. What's next? You and she can't wait to find out.
