Derrick Jackson is an actor known for his film and television roles in 'Straight Outta Compton', 'Kingdom' and Kevin Hart's 'Stories with Kev'. Jackson is also a celebrity trainer and mentor, and has built a career out of helping individuals realize their goals through dedication and hard work: "I refuse to sit and continue to watch failing statistics rise and not do something to help." As a celebrity trainer, he has guided the efforts of clients including professional athletes, national recording artists and actors to reach their full performance potential. And now through his new mentoring movement, H.O.B.Y. (Helping Our Brilliant Youth), Jackson is applying the same principals to help at-risk youth meet their own potential. Founded by Jackson in 2015, H.O.B.Y. conducts group mentoring sessions throughout Baltimore in which young boys and teens discuss plans and strategies to drive academic excellence, personal integrity, social responsibility, and and ways to improve their communities. He also implemented a program through the Northwest Career Center that assists troubled youths with job placement after their release from juvenile detention centers. As a partner with the Boys and Girls Club of Baltimore, Jackson brought his Career Center program to the Club to assist more young people. Jackson says the lessons and skills he learned as a professional bodybuilder and trainer gave him direction and awoke a sense of community. Now, he says, it's time to share those lessons with those who can benefit from them most.
