Elizabeth Christie was born in London. She was introduced to ballet by the prestigious Madame Rambert, with whom she trained and toured during the second world war. She performed as a member of the Sadler's Wells Ballet Company from 1948 - 1950, later joining Ballet Russes where she performed with the company until 1953. She is most well known for her work in the Oscar Winning 1948 film 'The Red Shoes', also appearing in Powell-Pressburger's 1951 film 'The Tales of Hoffman'.
