Jonas McDonald was born in Misawa, Japan to two former military parents, Jason McDonald and Kimberly McDonald. Jonas started gaining attention through his comedy videos online where he usually plays out of the world, eccentric characters. He started posting videos of his acting skills for both drama and comedy, then rap videos as well. Eventually one of his videos reached over 1 million views. As a child, he was into soccer. However, Jonas was put in a one week acting program in England at 11 years old by his mother, and that's when he fell in love with acting. Theater inspired Jonas to begin writing his own plays and he even won several journalism awards when he started writing in school. Jonas might have been shy off stage, but when his feet touched the stage, he was able to perform like a star. Jonas continued to do theater for a while. Eventually, he would watch TV a lot, which gave him the urge to be with the other actors in the scene. At 14 he searched modeling and talent agencies until he followed two local agencies on Facebook. One day one of the agencies posted an open call for a Top Model Competition, however, he only had 30 minutes to get there, register, and complete the open call by the time he saw the open call notice. Jonas ran to his parent's room, told his mom they need to hurry, and they rushed to the open call. Jonas ended up going all the way to the top 12 finalists, winning an award, and signing to a model and talent agency as a commercial/editorial model and an actor. He worked hard and paid for his own acting classes. McDonald started training with acting coaches from Chicago, Illinois, Northern California, and Los Angeles. Jonas McDonald now focuses on acting, dancing, writing, rapping and making his own content. At the end of the day, Jonas wants other people to go for their dreams, because when he was younger people told him he never would make it, then he started booking paid modeling and acting work. One person even told him, "You will never become an actor, you should give up, no one like you." Although, his hundreds of thousands of followers and millions of views would beg to differ.
