Patrice T. Conwell was born in 1961 in Queens, New York. Her family relocated to Huntsvile, Alabama in 1967 where her parents worked at Oakwood College, an HBCU. She attended Oakwood College, graduating in 1985 with a B.A. in Communication and a minor in Commercial Art. While a student at Oakwood, she sang as a member of the world-renowned Aeolians choir. After graduating, she worked in non-profit public relations in Washington, D.C. and Baltimore, Maryland before switching to academia. In 1997, Conwell received her M.A. in Public Relations from Rowan University in Glassboro, New Jersey. While in grad school, Conwell was a ghostwriter for Clifford Harris for her first published book titled, "DeathDance." She ghostwrote two other books before publishing her own e-Book in 2012 titled, "Nobody Ever Told Me I Might Not Get Married: One Woman's Journey to Acceptance." After completing graduate school, Conwell moved back to Huntsville in 1997 to accept a faculty position in the Communication Department at Oakwood College, now University. During her 20-year tenure, she built up the public relations academic program, taught PR and communication courses, and received her accreditation in public relations (APR) from the Public Relations Society of America, the first female African American educator in the state of Alabama to do so. She also expanded her writing by authoring several magazine articles for Christian publications, and co-authoring a book titled, "Becoming a Professional Lover: A Weekly Devotional for Learning to Love God's Way." In 2017, Conwell left academia, having achieved the level of Associate Professsor, to focus on writing full time. She established a business, PeeTee Communications, LLC, where she writes and produces content in various genres, for various media platforms. She still resides in Huntsville, Alabama with her husband and adult son.
