Tom's Voice has become familiar to millions over the years On TV and Radio Airwaves via Commercials, and Brand Imaging of great Radio stations Like: WPGC, Washington, D.C., WYNF, Tampa Bay, FL (Pirate Radio), B-94FM, Pittsburgh, PA, WMMS, Cleveland, OH ("The Buzzard"), and WGAR, Cleveland (The Nation's Top-Rated Major Country Station for more than 7 consecutive years.) Early Beginnings in Voiceover and Recording... Tom Daniels grew up as the oldest of three brothers born in McKeesport, PA. From an early age, Tom was fascinated with sound. At seven he realized that removing the 4" speaker from his portable record player and mounting it in the bottom of a Maxwell House Coffee can produced a much richer blend.. of sounds. While others were beginning their experimentation with Psychedelics, Tom began exploring Psycho-acoustics. He bought his first reel to reel tape recorder at ten and soon figured out how to wire it directly to the output of the family stereo system and his dad's transistor radio. By 14, Tom had his ham radio novice license and was a member of the Ham Radio Club in Junior High School. During the 10th grade, he joined the local Explorer Scout post as one of several reporter/writer/producers and newscasters of a weekly Scouting news program broadcast over a real radio station (WESA-AM,FM), Charleroi, PA. This continued for several years. Tom discovered Chicago and New York radio stations. They would beam in after dark. Between listening to those and the Pittsburgh stations. He dreamed of the day when he would have his own show... Tom entered Penn State University the autumn after High School graduation, and majored in Speech and Communications with a minors in Journalism and Broadcasting. After just one day he was helping his adviser and fellow students build the campus broadcast and recording facilities. During his junior year at Penn State, Tom acquired his first professional position, producing commercials, programs, and reading commercial copy live on the air, while still a full-time student. There was only one 60 second commercial, read live 25-30 times per show, six days a week, for months on end. He soon came to the realization that to engage a listener with limited material, one must vary the delivery and interpretation of scripted advertising copy. Sheer boredom drove him to ad-lib. Tom jokingly recalls, "That's where I earned my B.A. in B.S." Tom's sense of humor, distinctive voice and unique style quickly gained him notoriety as a voice talent. His audio production painted breathtakingly visual scenarios, his voice unique, credible and compelling. That distinctive sound and his production skills and talents gained the respect of his peers. Soon thereafter, he added the title "Production Director" to his resume, a distinction that was to bestowed upon him six more times over the years before he finally became an independent producer and full-time voice actor. Since then Tom Daniels' Voice has been heard by millions around the world as various characters and the narrator of television commercials, documentaries and films. In 2013 he was recognized with his first Emmy award as the Narrator of Jesse Owens: Enduring Spirit that aired to a national television audience of 99 million subscribers of the Big Ten Network (Collegiate Sports).
