Yael Deynes entered the film industry in 2015 with his first screenplay, "175", The script led to a signed deal with a top Hollywood talent agency. His work also caught the eye of Marsha Posner Williams, a two-time Emmy, and three-time Golden Globe-winning producer. Williams produced his directorial debut, My Secret Lake, which picked up an SFAAF Award and is currently distributed on Amazon Prime Video. In 2017, due to the damage of Hurricane Maria, Deynes was unable to reach his mother in Puerto Rico for two agonizing weeks. This inspired him to create a cinematic message of hope for the island entitled, "Who We Are", which won an award at the My Hero International Film Festival as well as a Telly Award. The film has amassed millions of views on social media and was broadcast to 20,000 attendees during the Puerto Rican benefit concert, "Somos Uno". In 2019 Deynes began work on his two latest short films "Can You See Me?" And "Urges" both produced by Williams. In just 5 short years Deynes has accomplished 17 short films, two documentaries have written 4 full feature-length screenplays, and has garnered over 50 awards. Deynes is currently working on his 5th full-length screenplay. Entirely self-taught, Deynes attributes his knack for storytelling to his grandmother's vivid tales as well as the everlasting desire to do the right thing.
