Saroyan1974's review about The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It(2021)

The director is indeed a good student of James Wan, but this movie fails almost completely from its plot content to its direction, and the whole film is just a clunky, empty shell. However, it cannot be totally blamed on the director. Letting a new director come and take over the production of such a big-budget horror movie from major studios is like pushing them straight into a "talent grinder". Of all the films that have come out since The Conjuring has an official "universe", only The Nun has been successful.

“The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It” is too average, lacking a villain like in The Nun, and there are no standout (haunted house) scenes to help build the underlying tension. The villain's backstory is too general and vague with unclear motivations, and much of it just can't be glossed over with a line or two. The use of love to repel the demon is so lightweight. James Wan shouldn't always be trusting his painstakingly built IP to these perfunctory new writers and directors...

Becoming a mystery and exorcism combined film is kinda nice; it’s no longer confined to a single haunted house, but is a search and hunt for the real culprit. Also, it doesn’t directly copy James Wan's filmmaking style. The wait time for jump scares is extended - you know the ghost is coming, but it just doesn't come. Super scary. The cinematography is awesome, probably the best cinematography for horror movies in recent years.

A la altura del Conjuro 1 y mejor que el conjuro 2.Desde el momento en que inicia la película se robaron mi total atención, llevandome por un recorrido bastante pensado para que no diera chance de distraerme, ¡fantástica! fueron muchas las cosas en la dosis adecuada: Cosas paranormales, investigación de un crimen, efectos especiales muy bien logrados y un relato que nos expone a los humanos como lo más dañado, muy auténtico. Recomendada sin duda.
