Imperfektum (1941)

In a student room in Uppsala, two young men discuss what happens after death. They make a promise to each other: When one dies, the dead will appear to the living, at twelve o'clock after the funeral. Some time later, one of the students is run over by a car. He survives, but the other student, who is a medic, happens to cut himself on a knife at the same time and gets an infection. He dies and after the funeral his friend walks around town, increasingly worried as the clock approaches midnight. When the clock strikes twelve, the ghost comes, as he promised.
