Citizens across New Orleans gather in their neighborhoods to have difficult, but ultimately enlightening conversations about racism. This effort to transcend division and discrimination was spearheaded by Mississippi Governor William Winter and implemented in New Orleans by Mayor Mitch Landrieu. The film premiered at an event in which Landrieu announced that the city of New Orleans would be taking down its confederate monuments--starting a nationwide trend. The film's title is taken from a traditional American gospel and African American folk song by an anonymous author, who was likely enslaved.
