Gray Brenner, a mixed-race Indigenous lawyer, struggles to prosecute a group of Aboriginal land activists who are facing charges of aggravated assault. Disappointed that his son would put his career above his ethics, his father confronts him in the family home - suffering a massive heart attack, dying in Gray's arms. Sensing his downward spiral, Gray's wife Robyn organises a much-needed trip to the Northern Territory, his mother's ancestral land. But it does not take the couple long to realise the Territory wears racism on its sleeve. Gray encounters a nasty local crew led by a sinister brute - Hopkins. This chance encounter sets in motion a series of tragic events that centre on Gray and Hopkin's identities; both men are lost between two worlds, belonging to neither, fracturing their lives as they run from a harsh reality. The ominous presence of an ancient predator and the growing danger of a terrifying force of nature, loom over the landscape, threatening to devour everything in their wake. As the skies change from a brilliant blue to a menacing darkness, Gray must reconnect with his past to protect his family and save his future. The Nowhere Man is a race against the clock for survival, both from natural and unnatural forces. Set during Cyclone Tracey against the Northern Territory's spectacular rugged terrain, the story features Dreamtime spiritual imagery and ancestral culture that creates a hauntingly beautiful and uniquely Australian journey of self-discovery.
