In Hinduism, women are prohibited from entering the cremation ground but Gulab Maharajin performed Cremations at Rasoolabad Ghat, Allahabad for over more than 60 Years. Maharajin is a story about "Gulab Maharajin" who was one of the first celebrated female dead body cremators in India and spent most of her life cremating lakhs of dead bodies at Rasoolabad Ghat, Allahabad - a city in the Uttar Pradesh State of India. The fact which makes this story worth telling is that in Hinduism, women are not allowed to enter the cremation ground for the rituals of a dead family member. Women are told to stay back at home while men are the ones who attend the final rituals. People at the Rasoolabad Ghat refer to "Gulab Maharajin" as Maharajin Bua, used as a synonym for Aunt in India. The Documentary unleashes The Maharajin's story through the eyes of people who lived around her, seen her becoming The Maharajin (a lady cremator) from just an ordinary girl. A journey of change in their perspective while broadening the horizons of the world around them after meeting the MISTRESS OF GHAT.
