Storyteller (2018)

Broken down, defeated, and desperate, we open to find our main character (unnamed) at the end of his rope. Through a series of flashbacks and voice over speaking to his mother via voicemail, the audience discovers the many trials and tribulations of our protagonist's life and his struggles as an aspiring musician/lyricist. From the streets of downtown Los Angeles, where the majority of this film was shot, we witness the depths of his stark truth. As the film progresses, we bear witness to his crumbling reality as nothing is quite working out the way he had planned, which deeply contrasts what he shares with his mother; the only joy he is comforted with is in his solitude - exploring the city he loves and using the diversity he encounters as his muse. Storyteller is the story of all creative hustlers in the world trying to find recognition and meaning through their craft.
