Young Sterre lives with her grandfather near the edge of the woods. She is obsessed with the one book that reminds her of her mother. When this book literally falls apart, her grandfather urges her to explore an abandoned castle where a magical library should be, full of stories and fairytales collected by the castle's former owner, a count who disappeared while searching the world round for even more stories, and by a mysterious figure: the Sprookjessprokkelaar, or Fairytale Gatherer. Will Sterre find the right door? What and who will she encounter inside the castle? And who is this Fairytale Gatherer?
