Mr. Badii, a middle-aged Irani man, is determined to end his life and seeks someone to bury him after he has passed. Driving through the city, he meets various individuals, offering them a generous payment for the simple task of throwing dirt over him in his pre-dug grave. But his prospects refuse—out of discomfort, due to religious beliefs, or because of simple sympathy. As Badii faces his final decision, he wanders through the countryside of Tehran.
