Opened by Mistake (1934)

When Patsy loses her new job as an office telephone operator and can't go home because she's behind on her rent, she goes to the hospital where her best friend Thelma works and asks Thelma to let her sleep there. Thelma knows she'll lose her job if she's caught, but it's raining outside, so she concocts a plan to put Patsy in an empty hospital room. A patient in need of emergency surgery is expected there, so Patsy is mistaken for that patient. Thelma tells Patsy to go ahead and have the surgery (free room and board and Thelma won't lose her job), but Patsy protests. Nurses, doctors, orderlies, and patient have it out.
