In 2010 the Spanish choreographer Victor Ullate, started creating a new dance project. This brand new choreography is unlike any of his earlier pieces. Wonderland, as the ballet is called, is based on Ullate intimate experiences with his elder sister Marisol, affected by meningitis. The documentary The Dance of the Loonies reveals the daily work routine of Victor Ullate with his Ballet Company over 10 months. During this time, the viewers will discover the creative process of one of Spain most prestigious choreographers. Through the dancers testimonies and their daily work, the audience will see the harshness of a discipline like ballet which requires sacrifice, devotion, love and passion from the dancers and masters. Some people believe ballet is almost a religion.
