Ty Rigby begun work as a writer in 2007 contributing essays on the topics of music and politics to the now defunct Melee Magazine. In 2009, he spent a period working as a historian for an Archaeological consultancy in Newcastle (Australia). He has commented that he 'liked the work but wasn't all that keen on Newcastle'. Moving to Melbourne in 2011, Rigby took up writing duties on a monthly comic 'Gincruch'. 'The Artist' was his first time writing for screen (co-written with director Joseph Perkins). The short received international recognition, including best experimental narrative at the Sydney Underground Film Festival (SUFF). He writes for electronic anarcho-punk band Yellowbird, whose third release is expected in 2012. Finally, Ty Rigby looks a little bit like a girl, except that he now has a beard, and so, is easily identifiable as male.
